About the Artwork:

The concept art is placed in a snowy battlefield against demons trampling the castle/fort. The light source is mostly rim light from the sky and fire torch. The brush I used mostly was a painterly rectangle which can be seen in the armor + mixer brush for soft edges. The fire reflection in the puddle simply gives drama to the character.

Rolland was a bad kid growing up. His parents were alway on working so he’d be out with his friends all day in the slums of New Stetven in Brevoy. He constantly get into trouble until he found out he was gonna be a father at 14. To support his new dependent on the way, Rolland decided to join some friend in a quick home invasion. They were just gonna rob some old fart that lived down the street. Things go wrong for Rolland and the gang. Rolland ends up killing the old man and gets thrown into prison. He is scheduled to be executed for his crimes, members of Iomedae’s Church give him a choice. Die by the hands of the excecutioner’s axe or enlist in the Mendevian Crusaders in the fight against the demons of the Worldwound. Since it was barely better than dying outright, Rolland joined the Crusades as apart of the Condemned Legion.

Rolland discovered his amazing ability to harness psychic power from the body parts of demons he’s slain in his years of battle. He infuses that power with his martial abilities to dominate the battlefield.
