Art Commission 8/16: Drow Sorcerer-Cleric

Client Description:

Drow Elf Sorcerer/Cleric – Female – Long silver-white hair to about mid-back. Has a staff with an orb on the top with in a eagles claw. Follower of Elistraee.

In this artwork, this is how I imagined a drow sorcerer+cleric would look like. When we say "long silver-white hair". we usually thought of pure straight silver hair but I ignored that idea and made something different. The staff with an eagle claw was made of the wood staff itself - the idea was the wood branches was designed to look like an eagle claw and make it feels more natural.

The design of the background is an idea I got when I travelled back then to Palawan to see the Underground River Cave. It was really amazing and I thought, maybe some enormous stalactite was formed in the drow city - enough to create a built-in compound where they could live. The compounds interconnected by a bridge similar to forest elves' tree houses.

Then I was thinking of another light source and thought a gem receiving light or something else. But I ended with the character interaction to the glowing fairies. The mushrooms are another interesting stuff as it glows and became another light source. In which you will notice the 2 different lights illuminating the character and a subtle combination of the 2 lights.

Fun Facts:

The stalactites - I used the same brush that I use for trees. If you look closely to the staff, both texture looks same.

The vein's color is just my theory for a drow's body. If you noticed them let me know what you think about it.
